Knox-Henderson is getting a beer garden: Black Forest Biergarten is under construction next to The Slip Inn and the soon-to-be Houndstooth Coffee.

Black Forest Biergarten is a German-style beer garden that is being started by the former owners of Knox Street Pub. The food and drink menu has already been finalized on the official website. This should be one of the most exciting launches of 2014. Read more here via the Dallas Observer.

New Knox Street development will be completed in September of 2015 and will include apartments, shops and yes, a Trader Joe’s

“The mixed-use development will include a Trader Joe’s grocery store and replaces the old Ed Kellum & Son appliance retail location and two restaurants on Cole. The buildings have been vacated and are awaiting demolition. […] Richardson-based contractor Hill & Wilkinson said the building at 4501 Cole will cost $38.6 million and will include a six-story, 165-unit luxury rental building on top of the retail. [‘]The Lincoln Knox apartments are a natural extension of this upscale, walk-able neighborhood and will offer outstanding amenities,[‘] Hill & Wilkinson’s Jay Graham said in a statement.” Read more via DallasNews.com.

The Pearl Cup has moved out of Knox-Henderson and Houndstooth Coffee is taking over in the Spring of 2014

We were very sad to see one of our favorite coffee shops, The Pearl Cup, move out of Knox-Henderson at the end of 2013 (“incredibly high rent” was cited for being the cause). Fortunately, great news quickly followed: Austin-based Houndstooth Coffee will be opening in the same spot that The Pearl Cup leased. Houndstooth Coffee prides itself on only selling the finest coffees, teas, beer and wine. Read more at Eater Dallas.

Hacienda on Henderson shut down unexpectedly

This came as a huge surprise. The KnoxHenderson.com team dined at Hacienda on Henderson three days before it unexpectedly announced that it was closing down. We really enjoyed the food and service and are sad to see it go. Read more at Eater Dallas.

Henderson Tap House is moving in to Knox-Henderson with “a gastro pub infused menu” and hilarious dress code

Henderson Tap House opens in March of 2014 on the same strip as Sushi Axiom and Gemma. We can’t wait to see how the launch goes. Photos of the construction have been posted here and you can learn more about the tap house at HendersonTapHouse.com.
